Coos Bay Public Library, 525 Anderson Ave., Coos Bay, OR - Pickup/Drop-off Eastside, Friday, August 14 at the Eastside Fire Station, 365 D Street, Coos Bay, 9:00am – 9:30am. Return or pick up library materials every Friday in front of the Eastside Fire Department. Age Bracket: Everyone. Pickup/Drop-off Empire, Friday, August 14 at the Empire Fire Station, 189 S Wall Street, Coos Bay, 10:00am – 10:30am. Pickup or drop-off library materials in front of the Empire Fire Station. Age Bracket: Everyone. Tween Cooking Club with OSU's 4-H, Friday, August 14 in the Myrtlewood Room, 3:30pm – 4:30pm, Ages 10-14. Learn cooking basics in a club geared towards tweens. Come to one or all sessions; sign up required for each session. All supplies provided. Each session will focus on a different recipe or technique. Friday, August 14, 3:30pm: Cooking with Garden Veggies; Friday, September 11, 3:30pm: Back-to-School Snacks; Friday, October 23, 3:30pm: Apple & Pumpkin Favorites; Friday, November 13, 3:30pm: One-pot pasta; Friday, December 11, 3:30pm: Breakfast Favorites. Made possible through OSU Extension and 4-H. Register. Age Bracket: Kids & Teens. Community Yoga with Abby Knipp, Friday, August 14 in the Myrtlewood Room, 5:30pm – 6:30pm. Grounded Alignment: A blend of yoga asana, philosophy, and breath into an accessible class for all bodies and experience levels. This class is for total beginners and experienced practitioners who enjoy taking it slow. A focus on the foundational basics to gently move your body while using breath to focus your mind. These classes are anatomy and trauma-informed with props available for use. Similar to: hatha yoga, gentle yoga, yoga 1. Bring a mat if you have one and plenty of water. Wear comfortable workout clothes, 5:30pm - 6:30pm, August 14 and 27, September 11 and 24, October 1 and 22; November 12 and 19; December 10 and 17. Age Bracket: Teens & Adults. ¡SPANGLISH! Conversational Program, Saturday, August 15 in the Myrtlewood Room, 10:30am - 11:30am. We meet at the library every third Saturday @ 10:30am! Program is for those who wish to practice their Spanish conversational skills and help other learners in a friendly setting. Attendees will have the opportunity to converse in Spanish as a group for one hour in a casual, informal environment. This is NOT a class but we will provide ideas for conversational topics. Beginners are welcome. ¡Vamos a hablar! Program is FREE and open to everyone. Practice your Spanish using our Free (w/your library card) language resource, Mango. Age Bracket: Teens & Adults. Craft Takeout. Kits Become Available at 12:00pm on Saturday, August 15. Calling all crafty teens and adults! Have an appetite to get creative? Pick up a free monthly Craft Takeout kit in the library on the 3rd Saturday of each month. All supplies needed to create the monthly project will be included in each Craft Takeout kit. Limit one Craft Takeout kit per person. Kits are available for pickup in the library while supplies last. A limited number of kits are available and are first come, first serve. Age Bracket: Teens & Adults. SRP 2026: Splish, Splash, Summer Bash, Saturday, August 15 at Mingus Park Pool, 2:30pm – 4:30pm. It's time for the Coos Bay Public Library's annual end of Summer Reading Party at Mingus Park pool! Pizza, books, and fun for the whole family. Children under 6 must be accompanied by an adult in the pool and adults must be accompanied by a young person in their life under 18. Free! Age Bracket: Kids & Teens. Ongoing Programs: Plant a Seed, Read Summer Reading 2026, Monday, June 15 – Monday, August 17. Get ready for an action-packed summer at the Coos Bay Public Library! From jugglers to hands-on science programs we have something for everyone. Take a look at our complete summer reading calendar for a complete listing of all we're offering this summer. Be sure and check out this year's Summer Reading Challenge for all ages, in which you can earn special Coos Bay Public Library "dollars" by reading or listening and completing activities. Dollars can be spent or saved for Coos Bay Public Library swag like a frisbee or a t-shirt. The more you do, the higher your chances of winning the grand prize. One lucky person will win a Nintendo Switch and the person who earns the most "dollars" wins a special, cool prize. Parents and younger children (0-5) can also participate in our Early Learning Challenge and earn a summer reading t-shirt while doing fun early literacy activities together.
