OSU release - CORVALLIS, Ore. – Two-time Olympian and 2025 AAI Award winner Jade Carey has joined the Oregon State coaching staff as a Student Assistant Coach, Head Coach Tanya Chaplin announced on Tuesday. "Jade's experience and passion for excellence are such an asset to our program and I'm excited to have her join our staff," Chaplin said. "Her contributions over the past four years have been instrumental in our growth and I know she will continue to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our student-athletes." Carey is coming off an incredible collegiate career that included program records for event titles (168), perfect 10s (16) and the highest all-around score (39.925), which tied for fourth highest in NCAA history. "This program has meant so much to me throughout my career and I am grateful to remain in a place that feels like home," Carey said. "I'm excited to help the team and coaches however I can and look forward to seeing what this group can accomplish in the future." A two-time Pac-12 Gymnast of the Year, Carey won Pac-12 Championships on floor (2023 and 2024), bars (2024), beam (2023) and in the all-around (2022 and 2023), finishing her career with 13 regular season All-American honors, 12 NCAA All-American honors and a perfect hit rate across 205 total routines. Carey was the 2024 NCAA Fayetteville Region Champion on beam, floor and in the all-around before winning Region Championships on all five events in Tuscaloosa, Ala., in 2025. In 2022, she finished fourth in the all-around at the NCAA Championships, along with a second-place finish on bars, while 2023 culminated in another silver medal, this time on bars. In 2024, Carey posted a 39.700 in the all-around to earn yet another silver medal on the biggest stage, also placing second on floor and third on beam, with a third-place finish on beam and fourth in the all-around in 2025. The list of accomplishments extends out to the international level, where Carey has won three Olympic medals with Team USA, including a pair of golds. She also won two gold medals with Team USA at the World Championships in 2022 (all-around and vault), adding a bronze on floor while also earning a gold on vault and silver on beam at the 2022 Paris World Cup Challenge. Oregon State gymnastics is now entering year 29 under Head Coach Tanya Chaplin and will host an NCAA Regional at Gill Coliseum next spring.
