A cow elk was shot dead in a residential area of Cannon Beach on Monday, April 20, 2026.

Oregon State Police are investigating an elk killing in downtown Cannon Beach, less than two weeks after the City Council discussed methods to control the local elk population, spurring impassioned pleas among locals to not kill the animals.
