Description

Summer salmon seasons for Oregon's Pacific Ocean waters were decided Friday in Newport, along with fall bird hunting and a new permanent summer parking system for Columbia River beaches on Sauvie Island's wildlife area.

Scrambling to cope with an unprecedented early showing of chinook salmon into the Columbia River mouth at Buoy 10, Oregon and Washington fish managers opted Friday to continue a hatchery-only salmon rule for the estuary zone past Monday.
