Description

A Coinstar kiosk offering bitcoin purchases through Coinme is pictured inside the Safeway at 1100 NE Broadway in Portland on Oct. 21, 2026. Under a multistate settlement, Coinme must stop offering cryptocurrency purchases through Oregon kiosks by Jan. 1, 2027.

A company that lets Oregonians buy bitcoin with cash at kiosks typically found at grocery stores must stop offering the service by the end of the year after regulators found problems with its finances and efforts to prevent money laundering.
