Former Portland Trail Blazers coach Mike Dunleavy, pictured here in the 1999 Western Conference Finals against San Antonio, was once asked by then-San Antonio general manager Gregg Popovich as to whether he should also coach the Spurs. Dunleavy, looking at a roster that already had David Robinson and Sean Elliott, told Popovich, “I definitely would make myself the coach of that team.”

Mike Dunleavy was hitting golf balls on Friday afternoon in New Orleans, where he lives, but his mind was on Manu Ginobili.
