On November 3rd at about 11 p.m., Lane County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a residence in the 89000 block of Green Hill Road, west of Eugene, for a reported assault. When they arrived, they learned the suspect, Michael Anthony Smith, 67, had injured and strangled a victim on the property. Smith had fled the residence before deputies arrived. A sergeant deployed K9 Hektor, who quickly tracked to a trailer on the property.
