🚨 April Fools Day Arrest 🚨

On April 1, 2025, around 10:30 PM, Deputy Freerksen was patrolling south on Hwy 101 when he noticed a green Chevy Silverado acting suspiciously—slowing down below the speed limit as he approached. The driver then sped up to zip through a yellow light, despite having plenty of time to stop safely. Deputy Freerksen conducted a traffic stop at Newport and Edwards Rd.

The driver, Troy Newsted, 57, was found to have a revoked license and was arrested for Driving While Suspended (Misdemeanor). The passenger, Jennifer Heffinger, 53, had an active warrant. While speaking with her, Deputy Freerksen caught her trying to toss suspected methamphetamine roadside—bold move, but not bold enough! 😎

Both were taken to Coos County Jail. Newsted faces charges for driving while suspended, and Heffinger was booked for her warrant plus Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine. The substance tested positive for meth and weighed about 4.5 grams.
