DEQ release - Monday, August 31, 2026 - QUICK FACTS: Location: Crook, Deschutes, Jefferson, eastern Marion and southern Wasco counties. Advisory end date: Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2026, in the afternoon for all counties except Deschutes. Deschutes County will transition to an intermittent smoke advisory the evening of Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2026. Smoke sources: Multiple wildfires in Oregon: The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality issued an air quality advisory on Monday, Aug. 31, 2026, for Crook, Deschutes, Jefferson, eastern Marion and southern Wasco counties. DEQ expects the air quality advisory to last until at least Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2026 in the afternoon for all listed counties except Deschutes County. Deschutes County will transition to an intermittent smoke advisory the evening of Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2026. DEQ and partner agencies will continue to monitor smoke in the area. DEQ expects intermittent smoke in Baker and eastern Clackamas counties between Monday, Aug. 31, 2026, until the afternoon on Wednesday, Sept. 2. 2026. DEQ also expects intermittent smoke in Deschutes County beginning the evening of Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2026, until the afternoon on Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2026. Smoke levels can change rapidly depending on weather. Check current conditions on the Oregon Smoke Information Blog, DEQ’s Air Quality Index, or by downloading the free OregonAIR app on your smartphone. Smoke can irritate the eyes and lungs and worsen some medical conditions. People most at risk include infants and young children, people with heart or lung disease, older adults and pregnant people.
