The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals found that Cal Jamison McCollough, 44, of Eugene, adequately presented a plausible claim that the university retaliated against him for constitutionally protected speech under the First Amendment.

A federal appellate court has revived a lawsuit filed by a former Portland State University student who was suspended by the school after he sent a profanity-laden email objecting to its COVID-19 vaccination requirement in 2021.
