Description

The low snowpack on Mount Hood was evident from the Shooting Star area of Mt. Hood Meadows on Jan. 18, 2026, with patches of grass and small trees marring ski trails that are typically covered in snow from November to April.

A third of Oregon’s counties now have drought emergencies, the state said in a news release Tuesday adding Coos, Klamath and Wheeler counties to the list.
