A planned swimming event at a public pool in Berlin that was scheduled to be reserved for members of the city’s Black community was canceled after drawing political criticism and prompting organizers to cite safety concerns following threats and hostile online reactions. Organizers said they could no longer ensure a safe environment for participants after the event became the focus of intense public debate, The Local Germany reported.
