A 69-year-old Washington man died Friday after his car collided head-on with a commercial truck on Highway 30 in Columbia County, Oregon State Police said.
Gary Michael George, of Rainier, was driving a Nissan Pathfinder eastbound on the highway when the car crossed the center line and struck a loaded Freightliner truck, according to a preliminary investigation by state police. Witnesses reported seeing the Nissan driving in the oncoming travel lane to pass traffic before the crash occurred.
