Under a reinterpretation of the Working Families Tax Cut laws by the Treasury Department, people will receive the credit in the form of payments, capped at $5,000 per child.

More than 50,000 Americans will be getting $5,000 refunds related to past tax credits, the U.S. tax agency announced.
