This month we have two very special guests: authors S.K. DeMarinis and Kimberly Jensen! From 12:00pm – 1:00pm on Wednesday, May 6, S.K. DeMarinis will host a one-hour presentation on her new book, “Hidden in Haarlem”. Based on the true stories of a 95-year-old elder who survived WWII in Holland as a teenager, DeMarinis will share some of the fascinating research that illuminates her latest novel. From 1:30pm – 2:30pm on Saturday, May 9, Dr. Kimberly Jensen will be present to discuss her latest book, “Oregon’s Others.” This nonfiction book examines the quest that took place in the era of WWI and its aftermath to identify, restrict, and punish internal enemy “others” across the country and specifically how it affected the people in Oregon. Join us from 4:30pm – 7:30pm on Monday, May 11 for this year’s Plant Swap! 🪴 Bring in a plant or plant cutting and pick up a new plant for your collection! Houseplants of all kinds are welcome as well as vegetable and flower seedlings. GUIDELINES: 🌿 Please only bring pots that you are willing to part with! 🌱 Avoid bringing invasive species. 🐜 Please make sure your plants are pest and disease-free. 📝 Label your plants with the names and include some care tips if you can. 📦 If you have a box, please bring it. We’ll have a few but not enough for everyone. ☘️ Please bring just a few plants (whatever you can carry.) We work on the honor system. For example, if you bring two plants, take two plants. We want there to be enough for everyone. Please wait until the end of the event to take extra items.

Join us from 3:30pm – 4:30pm on the first Friday of each month for Fiber Arts Friday, a monthly meet-up for fiber artists! Bring your own project (knitting, crocheting, needle felting, weaving, spinning, etc.) and enjoy conversation, share ideas, and enhance your skills with other fiber hand crafters. This casual gathering will be located at the tables in the periodical section. Fiber artists of all skill levels are welcome and registration is not required. Tea and snacks will be provided.
