🏴 Albany Scottish Festival | August 15 Through 16 🏴
Hear the call of the Highlands at the Albany Scottish Festival & Highland Games, returning to Timber Linn Memorial Park from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on August 15 and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on August 16. This free festival goes on rain or shine, so come ready for a full weekend of Scottish culture and community.
Watch athletes put strength and skill to the test in traditional Highland Games events. Caber toss (throwing a 16–20 foot pole tall), Scottish hammer throw, stone throw, weight for distance, weight over bar, and sheaf toss are among the competitions connected with the games. There is nothing quite like seeing a caber turn end over end and realizing someone just made tossing a very large log look almost reasonable.
Take time to visit participating clans and societies, meet artisans and vendors, grab a bite from food vendors, and learn more about the traditions that continue to bring people together. The 2026 festival already includes a growing lineup of Scottish clans, societies, makers, and food vendors.
Make a weekend of it, bring your favorite festival companion, and share this post with someone who would happily spend a day among kilts, cabers, and Celtic tradition.

☀️ Find a Place to Cool Down ☀️
Need a break from the heat? The City of Albany lists Albany City Hall, Riverfront Community Center, Albany Public Library, and Downtown Carnegie Library as public places to cool down. Please note that the Albany Public Library is experiencing heating, ventilation, and air conditioning issues and may not be fully cooled. Check current hours before heading out.
Water-based cooling options include the Monteith Riverpark splash pad and Albany Community Pool. Hours, admission prices, and availability vary.
Drink water often, limit strenuous outdoor activity, and check on children, older adults, neighbors, and people with health conditions. Never leave a child or pet inside a parked vehicle.

Cool off at these placesNOTICE: We're keeping a close eye on the current and projected AQI over the next few days. As of right now, it looks like we will reach closure limits for COOL! Pool this afternoon following the 12-2 PM session. Additionally, tomorrow's forecast looks to be worse and starting earlier in the day. We currently anticipate that COOL! Pool will have to remain closed for the duration of tomorrow, Wednesday, August 5.
We will update the caption of this post as things become more certain.
