April 2026 has been proclaimed Parkinson’s Awareness Month in Tualatin, raising awareness and supporting those affected by Parkinson’s disease in our community.

Parkinson’s disease is a chronic, progressive neurological condition and the second most common neurodegenerative disease in the United States. It is estimated that one million Americans are living with Parkinson’s, with nearly 90,000 new diagnoses each year. In Oregon, the impact is especially significant, with one of the highest rates in the nation.

The City of Tualatin recognizes the importance of education, support services, and therapies that help individuals live well with Parkinson’s. Organizations like the Davis Phinney Foundation and others play a vital role in providing resources, hope, and connection.

This proclamation was adopted at the April 13, 2026 City Council Meeting.
We encourage everyone to join us in raising awareness and supporting those living with Parkinson’s disease throughout April.
