Description

Child poverty rates vary greatly from one Oregon school district to another. Two Portland-area districts rank in the nation's top 5% for having the least poverty, according to new Census Bureau estimates.

Each year the Census Bureau calculates what share of school-aged children in every U.S. school district live below the poverty line. New figures released last week show that Lake Oswego and Sherwood rank among the 5% of U.S. districts with at least 1,000 residents aged 5 to 17 in which child poverty is rarest.
