Springfield Twin Rivers: Early Morning Energy, Olympian Spirit, and Red to Blue

District Governor Chris Waugh visited the Springfield Twin Rivers Club on Friday, March 6th at 7 am—fueled by a bountiful breakfast at the Eugene Mission!

President John Kimpton opened the meeting, and Mary Bartlett inspired everyone with stories of Olympians who refused to quit.

Governor Waugh presented an award recognizing the club's financial support for the End Polio Now Countdown.

President John awarded Blue Badges to three Red Badge members: Belinda Ray, Karen Davis, and Jameson Auten. This moment sparked an important question: some clubs have stopped the Red-to-Blue Badge process. Has yours?

This program familiarizes new members with Rotary, helps them feel engaged and involved, and introduces them to fellow members. The faster we assimilate new members, the more loyal they'll be.

The Springfield Twin Rivers Club invites you to get up early on a Friday, head to the Eugene Mission for a fabulous breakfast, and start your day with Rotarian energy. Governor Waugh sure did!

Introducing our 2026 Youth of the Year Warren Labine! Warren was selected to compete for the Oregon State Youth of Year on March 13th at the Albany Boys & Girls Club. He and seven other teens from Boys & Girls Clubs throughout Oregon, had to submit intensive applications, answer questions from a panel of judges and give a 3-minute speech. As you can see from the video of his speech, Warren made us all very proud! Congratulations to Mia Curtis from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Salem, Marion & Polk Counties on being selected to represent the state at the Pacific Region competition later this year.

Youth of the Year is the highest honor a Boys & Girls Club kid can receive. Each year the Youth of the Year program has recognizes young people for their outstanding leadership, service, academic excellence, and dedication to health and wellbeing.
