Description

Our roller coaster weather this Fall is on the track going up again.... Cloudy skies this morning along the South Oregon Coast, then becoming partly cloudy in the afternoon with highs in the mid 60s and winds out of the West at 5-10 mph.  A few clouds tonight with lows in the lower to mid 50s and winds light and variable.  Partly cloudy skies Wednesday with highs in the low 70s.  Kind of reminds me of that big old wooden roller coaster at Jantzen Beach in Portland.  You could see the monster from I-5 and what kid didn't have their face pasted to the window when driving by?  I rode that thing once, maybe twice.  Finally talked myself into going, did it, but was too scared to try it again.  I might have, too bad it is gone.  Didn't realize that Portland actually had four amusement parks.  One still stands, Oaks Park.  Okay best get to the news...
  • Got you sunrise/sunset info as the days get shorter in Oregon's Bay Area.  Also the tides, good to know stuff!
  • Here's another good to know, COVID-19.  Real numbers, real people, real friends, neighbors, and relatives.  I still can't imagine being stuck in an IC unit and just wondering/worrying.
  • BACC comes out with an endorsement for Coos Co. Commissioner Position No. 3.
  • Road work in Coos Bay tonight and tomorrow, motorists are advised to drive cautiously.
  • Coos History Museum has a program on the history of "green crabs" tonight.  Got to like the name of the presenter.  Perfect!
  • War in Ukraine part of the OSU Science Pub talk tonight.
  • Coos Bay City Council meets tonight.  On their agenda, discussion about dissolving the Homeless Work Group.  That ought to perk some ears up.  Leads to all kinds of questions.
  •  Pacific Power offering a new low-income program.
  • Medevac off a cruise ship off the Washington Coast.
  • Hwy. 101 fatal in Tillamook Co.
  • A Ram pickup truck runs over a bicyclist from Germany near Reedsport on Hwy. 101.  She didn't make it.
  • Triple fatal in Marion Co. on Hwy. 99E.
  • I-5 fatal, also in Marion Co.
  • Police logs show warrant arrests, DUII, criminal trespass, fuel theft, & elude.
  • In sports, high school soccer has Marshfield at North Bend tonight, boys and girls.
  • Prep volleyball has North Bend at home, while Marshfield is on the road.
Just sliding into the Month of October.  If you like the Fall colors, might suggest a ride to you.  Two of the best Coast to Valley routes during this time of year are Hwy. 126 between Florence and Eugene and Hwy. 34 between Waldport and Philomath.  The large Elm Trees and others all have their colors turning.  Really brightens the roadway and just offers a full array of Fall colors.  I think I like the Hwy. 34 route best.  Seems to be more trees as you progress by the Five Rivers turnoff and through the Narrows as the locals call it.  Only happens once a year and it is on now.  Got to love the Coast Range.  Have a good Tuesday.  Don't forget your COVID-19 protections.
