Case #: S2026-00323

On March 2nd, 2026, at approximately 8:41 p.m., Sgt. J. Clayburn and Deputy J. Lay responded to the 6300 Block of Third Road, Coos Bay, Oregon, to further investigate a reported violation of a restraining order.

While at the location, the suspect, John E. Bailey (57), arrived in his pick-up truck. Deputies challenged Mr. Bailey and attempted to pull him from the pick-up. Mr. Bailey resisted and sped towards a deputy and then fled the area.

A slow speed police pursuit ensued from Bunker Hill, through Coos Bay, North Bend, and ending on Wildwood Road. North Bend Police and Oregon State Police both assisted with spike strips during the chase, ultimately bringing it to a safe resolution.

The Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the involved agencies and the North Coos Dispatch Center for their coordination during this incident.
