12/9/25 - LCSO Case 25-5926 - Lane County Sheriff’s Search & Rescue continues search for missing Springfield man

On December 6th at 9 p.m., Lane County Sheriff’s deputies were notified that Erik Everardo Aguilar-Cisneros, 32, of Springfield, had gone missing while mushroom picking with several friends. The group had been in the area of Hadsall Creek Road, south of Mapleton.

Deputies and detectives responded to investigate, and Lane County Sheriff’s Search & Rescue (SAR) began an intensive search of the area. SAR deputies and volunteers have continued searching each day and into the night, employing ground searchers, K9s, and drones. The terrain in the area is extremely rugged, often requiring the use of ropes to access drainages.

Aguilar-Cisneros is described as a Hispanic male, 5’11” tall, weighing 220 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He was last known to be wearing a black raincoat, black rain pants, and a black-and-red baseball hat.

While investigators believe he is lost in the area, anyone with information is asked to contact the Lane County Sheriff’s Office at 541-682-4150 option 1.Photos from Lane County Sheriff's Office's post Featured News by Lane County Sheriff
WANT TO READ MORE? JOIN A BOOK CLUB!

Happy December! It’s hard to believe that we are already in the last month of 2025. If one of your goals for 2026 is to read more books, consider joining a book club! The Coos Bay Public Library (CBPL) has three book clubs to choose from so you are sure to find something to interest you.

On the second Saturday of every month the Book Brunch book club meets at the Library from 11a.m.-12p.m. The club chooses books from across genres and meets up to discuss them over waffles, juice and coffee. Recent selections have included Migrations by Charlotte McConaghy, The Night Tiger by Yangsze Choo, and The Bewitching by Silvia Moreno-Garcia. Check our website for the next read! https://www.coosbaylibrary.org/event/book-brunch-12891

If you prefer to join a book club and discuss books from the comfort of your own space, CBPL also offers two book clubs that meet online through Zoom. The first is the Unlimited book club which meets on the third Thursday of each month from 6-7 p.m. This book club is held jointly with the North Bend Public Library and focuses on books about diversity, inclusion, and community. Recent reads have included We Will be Jaguars: A Memoir of My People by Nemonte Nenquimo, The Frozen River by Ariel Lawhon, and Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver.

The second online book club is brand new and begins in January, meeting the first Tuesday of the month from 5:45-6:45 p.m. The Sci-Fi/Fantasy book club will focus on – you guessed it – sci-fi and fantasy novels. If your idea of a good book contains magical swords and epic quests or journeys through space and contact with alien creatures this might be the book club for you. Book club members will vote on which books they want to read next and then gather online to discuss them. So, find a cozy spot and enjoy talking to other fantasy and science fiction lovers while getting ideas for your next reads!

Both virtual book clubs meet via zoom and require registration so that the links to the meetings can be sent out. You can register by going to the Coos Bay Public Library’s website and clicking on the calendar or by calling us at 541-269-1101.

All of these book clubs are open to teens and adults. So, whether you want to get out of the house and enjoy brunch and conversation or prefer to stay home and discuss your book while curled up on your couch with a tasty beverage, a CBPL book club has you covered! Featured News by City of Coos Bay
