💙 Visitor Ambassadors Needed 💙

The Albany Visitors Association is looking for friendly volunteers to host four-hour summer shifts at the Little Blue Victorian House at the Santiam Rest Area.

As a visitor ambassador, you get to welcome travelers, serve complimentary hot coffee and snacks, share maps and brochures, and help people discover the many places that make Albany worth exploring.

It is a small shift with a big local impact. You can meet new friends, join a fun troop of volunteers, and share your pride in the community with people who are just passing through, planning a return trip, or discovering Albany for the first time.

Volunteer opportunities also include greeting visitors at local events, helping in the Albany Visitors Association office, preparing visitor gift bags, folding brochures, joining work parties, and taking photos of beautiful Albany.

Call 541-928-0911, email Info@AlbanyVisitors.com, or stop by our office at 122 Ferry St. SW to find out more about joining the team. Or, fill out the volunteer application at http://albanyvisitors.com/volunteer-application.

On April 26, Hillsboro Police officers responded to a reported overnight burglary at Coyote’s Bar & Grill after staff arrived to find the business had been broken into and the safe was missing.

Using surveillance footage from multiple cameras, officers quickly identified a suspect who was seen entering the restaurant overnight and leaving on foot with the safe. A prompt investigation led officers to a nearby apartment, where the suspect and the unopened safe were located.

Jerry James Harmon, 40, was arrested and lodged at the Washington County Jail on charges of Burglary in the First Degree, Aggravated Theft in the First Degree, and Possession of Burglary Tools.

During the investigation, officers also contacted Destiny Lynn Johnson, who had an outstanding warrant and was taken into custody.

We know crimes like this affect local businesses, employees, and the community they serve. We appreciate the partnership of local businesses and community members who help us keep Hillsboro safe.
