I spoke with Jennifer Bragg, the Yoncalla City Administrator, this afternoon.

Last night, the Sergeant for the North County Patrol Office was informed by the City Manager that the City Council had voted not to renew the contract. This statement, along with later conversations about how many more city council meetings the Sergeant would need to attend and the fact that deputies wouldn’t be handling certain duties anymore, gave the Sergeant the impression—based on what the City Manager said—that the enhanced police services contract was ending on June 30, 2025. No further clarification was provided to the Sergeant.

Today, however, the City Manager has since clarified with me that this was not the direction given to her by the Council. The City Manager indicated to me that she will accept responsibility for this apparent misunderstanding.

The previous Facebook post was not intended to demean or humiliate the Mayor, City Council or the City Manager of Yoncalla, nor was it intended to cause fear amongst the city residents. It was simply shared with the purpose of sharing valuable information with those affected.

I am encouraged to hear that the contract is still under consideration and encourage open communication and community involvement. I look forward to speaking with the City Council and answering any questions they may have and continuing our partnership with the City of Yoncalla.

Respectfully,
