โ„ There is even MORE snow in the mountains! โ„

On Saturday evening, Lane County Sheriffโ€™s Search & Rescue volunteers responded to assist two hikers who became lost in the area of Salt Creek Falls off of Highway 58 and were not prepared to be out overnight. They were located and guided back to their vehicle.

On Sunday, SAR volunteers with the Special Vehicles Group responded to assist the occupants of a sedan that was stuck in snow on a National Forest road south of Brice Creek Road. With temperatures dropping and snow continuing to fall, SAR volunteers found the vehicle and assisted the driver and two passengers back down to the valley.

Follow these tips to stay safe when you explore the outdoors in our county:
๐Ÿ—ป Always tell someone where you are going and when you plan to return.
๐ŸŒจ๏ธ Know conditions before you leave - rain in the valley can mean ice up high!
โ›บ Be prepared to stay out overnight - even if you don't plan to get out of your car.
๐Ÿ—บ๏ธ Bring maps for offline navigation - cell service can be spotty!
๐ŸŒŠ If you go on the water, ALWAYS wear a life jacket!

๐Ÿ›‘ If you become lost, STAY PUT! Find a way to signal or make your location visible. Always carry a whistle and flashlight in the outdoors โ€“ it just might save your life.

Nearly every week, Lane County Sheriff's Search & Rescue deputies and volunteers assist our residents and visitors in all types of environments.
