WHAT WILL YOU DISCOVER THIS JUNE? EXPLORE THE LIBRARY'S FEATURED DISPLAYS

Did you know that every month the library features special collections on our book displays? Each month we have displays of books, DVDs, and other materials on specific topics that we think might be interesting to our patrons scattered throughout the library. There are two such displays as soon as you enter the library proper. There is also a display behind the first self-check station and two large displays back by the magazines and another in the reference section near the computers.

For the month of June our displays include Take It Outside, a display featuring books filled with things to do outside: hiking, camping, kayaking, skateboarding, golfing, pickleball – if you can do it outside, we have a book about it and that book might be featured on this display.

If the outdoors isn’t your thing maybe try a book written by or about an Asian American or Pacific Islander. We have a whole display set up to honor the amazing contributions of our AAPI community featuring both fiction and non-fiction books and videos, so you are sure to find something to strike your fancy.

Don’t miss our display celebrating Older American Month! These books and DVD’s include nonfiction works about aging, exercising for seniors and health conditions that affect older people. Plus, for those of you looking for a bit of fun, memoirs and materials featuring characters of a certain age who are living their best lives. If you are tired of books filled with 20-somethings check out the books on this display!

We also have a display called Who Stole My…. If you have an affinity for those who steal this might be the display for you. Whether you like high stakes diamond heists, fantasy world street urchins picking pockets, or just someone out to steal your heart, check out this display featuring those who have sticky fingers.

And of course, no set of June book displays would be complete without celebrating PRIDE month! This collection of materials includes books and DVDs about LGBTQ+ leaders, trailblazers, and everyday people. Whether you want to dig into history or just read a juicy romance, we have you covered.

So, when you come to the library don’t forget to browse our displays- you never know what you might find!Photos from Coos Bay - City Government's post Featured News by City of Coos Bay
