We are excited to announce that the City of Coos Bay has been awarded the 2024 Excellence In Best Practices Award from the Citycounty Insurance Services (CIS) at this year’s League of Oregon Cities (LOC) Annual Conference!  
  
 This award highlights the City's commitment to best practices in governance and administration. CIS, a joint initiative formed by the LOC and the Association of Oregon Counties in 1981, provides critical risk management services, property and liability coverage, workers' compensation, and employee benefits to cities and counties across Oregon. Serving 98% of cities and over 78% of counties in the state, CIS plays a vital role in helping local governments protect their human, physical, and natural resources from accidental losses. In addition, they work closely with local insurance agents, offering expert risk-management support.  
  
Coos Bay was recognized specifically for updating its employee handbook to incorporate Paid Leave Oregon provisions and robust fleet management program. These initiatives demonstrate the City's ongoing dedication to ensuring a safe and supportive work environment while effectively managing resources.
