Description

Promoting peace is one of the most unifying Rotary peace initiatives we have. No matter the size or style of your club, you can make this universal value visible in your community. How might your members bring Rotary’s commitment to peace into clearer view? What message do you want your neighbors to see when they pass your meeting place?
A Local Peace-Building Option
A simple, powerful step is installing a Peace Pole—a symbol recognized around the world. Here in District 5110, we’re fortunate to have a local Rotarian who creates them for only $150. Mike Hewitt, Past President of the Port Orford Rotary Club, handcrafts durable Peace Poles and customizes each one with four languages of your choice. Supporting a fellow Rotarian keeps your project close to home and aligned with the values we stand for.
As you explore peace initiatives and partnerships, take care: not every group that references Rotary 5110 is formally connected to our District. When in doubt, reach out—we’re here to help you navigate those decisions.
Here are ways your club can amplify peace locally:
• Install a Peace Pole at your school, park, clubhouse, or community gateway
• Host a peace-themed program with local educators or leaders
• Highlight peace stories on your social media
• Collaborate with youth programs on conflict-resolution conversations
• Tie a peace initiative into a Rotary Day of Service
• Encourage members to explore Rotary’s global peace training opportunities
Peace is a powerful message—and you have the lift to make it visible. You haven’t peaked yet!
